Individual international mobility grants

T-Connect, June-July 2005

Thanks to AREA Science Park initiative providing grants to foreign graduates, T-Connect hosted in its facilities professor Klaus Marius Hansen from Università di Aarhus (Denmark)..

With professor Klaus Hansen T-Connect planned a joint project aiming at developing a prototype module and improving know-how in software architecture design. In particular the work has been divided in two main activity fields:

– Tutoring in software architecture design and analysis, with particular emphasis on object-oriented modelling advanced methodologies

Due to professor Hansen’s experience, advanced patterns, techniques and tools for object-oriented modelling have been introduced taking into account the uncertainty in experimental system development.

– Studying the integration of OSGi framework with T-Connect platform

This activity contemplated the identification of development tools and OSGi bundles for the development of a client/server solution.

The prototype module developed, named MiG (Mobile interactive Gateway), is a basic mobile OSGi gateway based on a Windows Mobile PDA. The gateway is able to interface to a server-side logic. Several test have been carried out, roaming among different types of location awareness sensors (indoors and outdoors; using GPS, GSM-based location, Bluetooth tags).

Klaus Marius Hansen is an Associate Professor at the Computer Science Department, University of Aarhus (Denmark) and Deputy Manager of the software area of the ISIS Katrinebjerg competency centre. His research areas include software architecture design and analysis, object-oriented modelling, techniques and tools for experimental object-oriented system development, and pervasive computing. He has also significant experience in platforms complying with OSGi Alliance framework.
